Anna Camacho, who hand makes CORDA candles, began making them as an answer to prayer. She explains: “The name means ‘hearts’ and comes from the Mass when the priest says, ‘Lift up your hearts.’ In Latin, that’s ‘sursum corda’ and literally it means ‘Hearts up!’ I love, too, how the heart is a source of strength and courage. The name also gives a nod to how I proudly make everything by hand in the heartland, where I was born and raised. Our faith gives us so many things that make visible an invisible reality, and my hope is that CORDA candles do the same. Through the power of scent, these uniquely inspired candles connect us to particular saints and aspects of the faith in a real, concrete way. Each scent combination is the fruit of love and prayer, and is inspired by the day to day lives and heavenly patronages of these holy men and women. May the light of their lives point us to the Light of the World.”
Compline: inspired by Night Prayer has calming scents of dark amber, vanilla and lavender. It’s made of an all-natural coconut wax blend, in small batches.
